OJM Celebrates 25 Years in 2014

January 10, 2013

OJM started as a museum without walls 25 years ago when a group of volunteers  gathered together to create an all volunteer organization devoted to raising consciousness about “Jewish art, history and culture.”  The primary goal was to bring traveling exhibits to the community, with little attention given to the idea that our own community might have a history to tell. Today the museum boasts a full range of community-based exhibits and maintains an archives and oral history program documenting the Oregon Jewish community. Cultural programs include films, concerts and lectures, and education outreach for schools. Our college internship program brings in students from around the country and our volunteer program keeps community minded members engaged.
