Bertha Meyers was one of Portland’s pioneer Jewish citizens.
She helped to found the Neighborhood House,
a philanthropic community center which (among many other activities)
helped recent immigrants learn the skills they needed for citizenship.
Bertha Boulevard, in SW Portland is named for her.
