Group Tours

Plan a field trip by bringing your group to the Museum or arrange for one of our off-site tours! 

Our programs are designed to meet your needs, whether you are visiting as a group new to Jewish traditions and culture or have first-hand experience. 

Additionally, our education staff welcomes inquiries about your needs for custom programs.

Holocaust Memorial Tour

The Oregon Holocaust Memorial, dedicated August 29, 2004, serves as a permanent reminder of the Holocaust, where millions were systematically murdered by the Nazi government of Germany from 1933 to 1945.

Museum Group Tour

Museum Tours at the Museum offer an in-depth study of our current exhibits. A trained museum educator will lead your group through our gallery and speak about the history of Oregon’s Jewish community. Student programs are designed to allow participants to experience learning in an interactive way using museum artifacts, reproductions, and hands-on activities.

South Portland Walking Tour

OJMCHE offers walking tours of Portland with a focus on Jewish immigrant history. 
Participants will tour Old South Portland by walking through streets while hearing stories about the century old neighborhood.

Hours
Please make pre-arrangements for your group’s tour.  
Tours are available Tuesday – Thursday 9:00am - 3:00pm, Friday 9:00am – 2:00pm

Group tours at other times or on weekends are considered on a case-by-case basis. 

Museum Admission fees
Payment is made upon arrival. Payment may be made by credit card, cash, or check. 

Fees for Museum Tours are $3 per student (chaperones, drivers, and medical caretakers are free). The Museum accepts VISA, MasterCard, and American Express. 

Our South Portland Walking Tour is $5 per student.

There is no charge for tours of the Oregon Holocaust Memorial, however we ask for a nominal $25 donation to OJMCHE to cover basic administrative costs.

Scholarships are available for K-12 public school groups and to other organizations with demonstrable need.

Group Size and Chaperones 
The Museum can accommodate groups of up to 40 people. For adult/student ratio numbers, the Museum follows your school’s regulations regarding mandatory ratio numbers.  

While the Oregon Holocaust Memorial can accommodate larger student groups, we ask that you please contact the Museum with your school's expected group size first in order for us to determine how many docents to schedule for your day.  

Food and Drink
There are no bag lunch facilities available in the Museum. Food and drink are not permitted in the exhibit galleries.  Several cafes are within walking distance of the museum.

School Bus Drop-Off and Parking
Buses may drop off or pick up school groups in front of the Museum.  Smaller buses may be able to park in the Museum’s parking lot, space permitting.
