An Afternoon with Young Adult Book Author Ruth Feldman
and Artist Diane Fredgant
Sun, March 18 at 2:00pm
The Oregon Jewish Museum, author Ruth Tenzer Feldman, and fiber artist Diane Fredgant invite you to a parent/teen program about the transformative aspects of the tallit/prayer shawl. Ruth Feldman, joined by three young readers, will read from her new book Blue Thread, a young adult novel in which an ancient heirloom prayer shawl intertwines with the woman suffrage campaign in 1912 Portland. The three readers are pre-bat mitzvah students: Molly Benson, Zoe Sirkin, and Estee Rosenberg. Diane Fredgant will facilitate an art project with attendees, helping them to create their own paper designs--designs that could be used in the creation of a tallit/prayer shawl. Art materials will be provided.
