Oregonians have many reason to feel proud of their state.
The history has bumps in the road, however, that have caused pain and
suffering for some of its population. Oregonians have found ways to exclude
people since the first settlers made their way across the Oregon Trail.
In the past 200 years, they have discriminated against peopleNative
Americans, Chinese, Japanese, African Americans, to name but a fewwho
were perceived to be different. The reasons for discrimination are varied.
"No Easy Road," a traveling exhibit developed by American Jewish
CommitteePortland Chapter and funded by Spirit Mountain Community
Fund explores the history of discrimination in Oregon.
