Upcoming Exhibits

1In the Game
June 7 – September 30, 2012

In the Game is an expansive exhibit project that examines the significance and importance of sports and sports related activities as viewed through lens of the Jewish experience in Oregon. At the core of the exhibit is the ancient Jewish concept that a healthy body is needed to house a healthy mind and soul. The exhibit opens with a fascinating glimpse into national sports role models and ways that Oregon Jews became interested and contributed to athletics.

The exhibit explores the cultural importance of sports by highlighting the underappreciated and spirited story of those who have excelled in sports and sports related activities—everyone from baseball professional Hal Saltzman to former Ducks star Igor Olshansky to Trailblazer founder, Harry Glickman. Themes include high school athletics, college varsity and intramural sports, professional sports, the business of sports, sports medicine and rehabilitation and sports journalism. The project employs a wide range of multi-media to entertain and educate a diverse range of visitors and on-line users  about the importance of sports in our everyday lives.
