Three Shades of Valor
Works by Jeanne Moment, Evelyn Presser, and Sylvia Shlim
March 6 - April 27, 2003

The exhibit presented paintings, drawings, and watercolors by three 20th century Jewish women who had strong ties to Oregon. Jeanne Moment's landscapes and scenes of the natural world were composed in Oregon, her chosen home for more than four decades. Evelyn Presser, a native of Chicago, was a self taught painter who worked exclusively in oils in a primitive and bold style. Sylvia Shlim also painted throughout her life, and was one of the Northwest's finest abstract collage artists, working in mixed media. All three women had their own careers and families in addition to being accomplished artists, and shared a deep passion for life, art, music, and nature.

A selection of historic photographs from the museum's permanent collection accompanied the exhibit.
